Primera frase hecha: “To burn the midnight oil”.

Estoy muy cansado porque ayer estuve “burning the midnight oil”, literalmente “estuve quemando el aceite de medianoche”. He terminado el informe a las 2 de la madrugada. “I was burning the midnight oil”. “Estuve quemando el aceite de media noche”.
¿Qué te parece que significa? Significa trabajar tarde por la noche. ¿Cuándo fue la última vez que has trabajado hasta tarde por la noche?

Segunda frase hecha: To cry over spilt milk, literalmente: “Llorar sobre leche derramada”.

Ejemplo:

  • Persona 1: ¿Por qué hice este error?, ¡he sido tan tonto!
  • Persona 2: Olvídalo, ya no puedes cambiar nada. No tiene sentido llorar sobre leche derramada (crying over spilt milk). Ayer, perdí un cliente. Estoy tan enfadado… Bueno, supongo que no tiene sentido llorar sobre leche derramada (crying over spilt milk).
